The whippet and the Italian greyhound sprint past 55 km/h, then spend the rest of the day under a blanket. We raise both in Lac-Beauport, in very small litters, with one priority above all: health and temperament, before speed.
A one-person kennel, on purpose.
Élevage Nord is one person, one home, and two breeds she knows by heart. No team, no kennel building: the breeding females sleep in the house, litters are born in the living room, and every puppy is handled several times a day from birth.
Two litters a year, maximum. Not because demand is lacking — quite the opposite — but because that's the number of puppies one person can truly know, one by one, before deciding which family suits them.

Health tested before breeding
Eyes, heart, patellas and a genetic panel for conditions known in both breeds — including von Willebrand disease in the whippet. You receive the actual results, not a summary.
Socialization that respects their sensitivity
Sighthounds are sensitive dogs, not pack dogs. Gentle daily handling, gradual exposure to sounds and surfaces — never over-stimulation.

We stay available long after your puppy leaves — routines, feeding, the first Quebec winter. And if you ever can't keep your dog, they come back here. Always.
Whippet and Italian greyhound.
Two small sighthounds, chosen for their calm temperament and their deep attachment to their family. Neither is a yard dog: both want to be on the couch, pressed against you, most of the day.
The whippet is the hardier of the two, more at ease with active children. The Italian greyhound is more delicate, closer to a cat in its manners — and even more sensitive to cold.
From your first question to the ride home.
You write to us
Tell us about your household and your experience — or lack of it — with sighthounds. We reply within one or two days, honestly, even if it means telling you a puppy isn't the right fit yet.
We talk, then we meet
A first call to confirm the breed suits you, then a kennel visit by appointment. You meet the parents and see where the puppies grow up.
Reservation and matching
A $500 deposit confirms your place on the litter. Puppy–family matching happens around week six or seven, based on observed temperament — never on a first-come basis.
Going home at eight weeks
Your puppy leaves vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and examined by our veterinarian, with a health record and their first winter coat if the season calls for it.
A litter is expected this fall.
Our puppies are almost always spoken for before they're even born. If you're thinking about welcoming a sighthound, now is the right time to write — even without certainty.
